SOTA 10th Anniversary

2012 marks the tenth anniversary of SOTA in the United Kingdom. Special certificates for both Chaser and Activators are being made available.

Start date for G & GW is 2 March 2012, other regions follow later in the year (GD 1 June 2012, GM 1 July 2012 & GI 13 July 2012). To claim a certificate you have to activate or chase at least one summit in any qualifying region . The ultimate award is Chased or Activated all regions (there are 10 regions in G and 3 in GW; GD is based on summits as there are just 5 on the whole island). The certificates will be available for download or printed and mailed out.

Special facility for North American (USA & Canada) users:

We are now holding stocks of Badges and Stickers in the USA so these can be despatched at local postal rates. Buy through this site but without the high cost of International postage (for small quantities). These items can still travel post free with trophies or larger merchandise items if you wish.

Summits on the Air (SOTA) is an award scheme for radio amateurs and shortwave listeners that encourages portable operation in mountainous areas. SOTA has been carefully designed to make participation possible for everyone - this is not just for mountaineers! There are awards for activators (those who ascend to the summits) and chasers (who either operate from home, a local hilltop or are even Activators on other summits).

Of course we participate in SOTA for fun, but it is always nice when our efforts are recognised. What better way to record an activator, chaser or SWL milestone than a SOTA award?
